A reference book emerges

Diving deep into the world of cold milling machines

A WIRTGEN cold milling machine in the evening light

Cold milling machines are enjoying a boom in times of potholes and road reconstruction. The WIRTGEN GROUP is an absolute specialist and global leader in this area. Expertise in demand – by users, planners and students. Bringing together this knowledge and summarising it in a reference book – that was our job.

Reference book covering cold milling machines for the WIRTGEN GROUP

The first edition of the manual appeared in 2013. An ambitious project requiring significant research on the part of our editorial team. Design, content and structure were developed in close cooperation with the responsible project manager at Wirtgen GmbH. The team met up regularly over several months to discuss the individual chapters, correct the created texts and assign the images and graphics provided. The combined knowledge of the customer, extensive literature research and study of sources form the basic structure of the texts. This meant some sleepless nights for our editors who were perhaps worried about the rotational movement of point-attack cutting tools or the effect of the milling speed on the milled surface.

All’s well that ends well: The result is an informative guide available in 5 languages which supports those involved in planning and implementation measures in their daily work on the building site and is also an enjoyable read for students.
