A Passion for Paper – and the Coffee at stodt
This is Wiebke, our Graphic Designer and Art Director.
Another jack-of-all-trades. First she worked with figures, then with media. She’s good at self-organisation (good for her) and on top of that has a fully developed helper syndrome (good for us colleagues). And she also loves beautiful things on paper – and our coffee.
Warm-up question for getting started:
What’s your name?
Wiebke
Titles, titles, titles:
What is your job title?
Graphic Designer and Junior Art Director Print
Master, Dipl.-Ing. or Dr. med.:
What is your educational title, meaning what did you actually study?
Training no. 1: Retail sales specialist. But during those three years I realised that numbers aren’t really my thing and I’d rather be creative. So after I completed that training, I did ...
Training no. 2: Media designer for digital and print media
No studies, no title. I can do my job without one ;)
What everyone has always wanted to know:
What do you do at stodt?
As a graphic designer and art director I am part of the graphics team. I conceive and develop initial ideas. I create layouts, logos, presentations, corporate designs etc. And if one of my colleagues gets stuck, I give graphic input. And then there’s all the other activities: project support, releases, quality assurance, feasibility checks, mastering challenges and solving problems.
Look behind the scenes:
What can you do and why?
Creative mind: I quickly get an idea of what something should look like. From real to abstract, from bold to black-and-white.
Good self-organisation: At work, I am good at structuring my day, setting priorities and estimating how much time I’ll need. Not so in my private life. I’m always late.
Supporting/helper syndrome: Of course I don’t know everything, but I do know how you can help yourself.
In my personal life, too, I can keep myself occupied, or simply do nothing. (I like what I do, which is why I’m good at it.)
Experience is a good thing, too:
How long have you been with stodt?
Since September 2014.
Customers, machines, pixels, a warm office or coffee:
Why are you passionate about your job?
I have a passion for paper. Especially for beautiful things on paper. I just can’t walk by without touching it. And that’s exactly what I like. Filling empty pages with life.
No matter how fast and digital the world may be turning: people need to experience the tactile sensations of touch.
But the coffee here is pretty good, too.
Be honest, but not so honest we have to censor your answer:
What gets on your nerves sometimes?
My favourite cup is always on the top shelf. No way to get to it without a step stool.
