Graphic designer
Agency dog lover with an eye for detail
From graphic conceptualisation through to specialised hyperventilation techniques – our ‘angry’ digital and print designer Sandy is not just an integral part of stodt’s graphics team, but can call herself the main caregiver (okay, ‘owner’ is probably the legally correct term) of agency dog Bast.
Warm-up question for getting started:
What’s your name?
Sandra aka „Sandy“.
Titles, titles, titles:
What is your job title?
Graphic designer
Master, Dipl.-Ing. or Dr. med.:
What is your educational title, meaning what did you actually study?
Do human/dog relationship courses count? I have a certificate! Well, my proper academic title is media designer in digital and print focusing on conceptualisation and visualisation, specialised in hyperventilation techniques.
Before my training as a media designer I did an extended internship in a small, seedy art gallery and since then have proudly born the title of ‘certified gallery assistant’. Surprised, right?
What everyone has always wanted to know:
What do you do at stodt?
Mainly I design print and digital media, edit images, design brochures, flyers, handouts, etc. I also do a bit of film and video editing. Now and then I give pep talks to the printer.
Look behind the scenes:
What can you do and why?
Think about layouts with a grim face and get stuck on trivial details. Everybody knows this from creating characters in some computer game. But I really do work best if you just feed me with input and turn me lose.
Experience is a good thing, too:
How long have you been with stodt?
Since September 2013.
Customers, machines, pixels, a warm office or coffee:
Why are you passionate about your job?
A colleague once told me to “stay angry”. Those who know me already know this anyway. I stick with things ‘angrily’ and put a lot of passion into things I enjoy doing. I know it sounds crazy but most of the time, my job is fun.
Be honest, but not so honest we have to censor your answer:
What gets on your nerves sometimes?
When an elaborately designed, really beautiful brochure is redesigned into a nondescript rag, or a project dies altogether, that’s a pain in the ass. So is getting up early, by the way.
